How to Get a Body Like a Victoria's Secret Angel
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is being filmed today, which means the models walking have all been hard at work toning their bodies to perfection. Yes, undoubtedly these women have incredible figures, but exercise is great for everyone, whether you're a supermodel with wings or not. The key to making a change in your body is consistency, and you need to find a workout that you love so that you're more likely to stick to it.
Case in point: Gigi Hadid, who has walked previously. We never see her pounding on a treadmill, but we all know she loves boxing and training with Rob Piela at Gotham Gym in New York. Karlie Kloss learnt to love running (she revealed how exclusively to us here), but her favourite workouts take place at ModelFit (also in Manhattan). Izabel Goulart loves exercising so much that she has her own hashtag #BodybyIza, while Jasmine Tookes and Josephine Skriver find working out together so much fun that they have their own
With the Angels sharing so much fitness inspiration online, we've learnt a thing or two from them. Here's a rundown of our seven favourite workout revelations.
MAKE FRIENDS WITH THE TRX
There are an infinite number of workout moves you can do using a TRX. This superset consisting of a pike and scissors is pretty advanced, but it gives you a goal (in case Goulart's body isn't enough).
FORGET SIT-UPS
We now know sit-ups don't work, but there are other more effective ways to target the abs, such as twists. The weight from the medicine ball ups the resistance and adds to the challenge.
CHALLENGE YOUR BALANCE
There are two key things going on here: Jasmine is using the medicine ball to create an unstable surface so her muscles have to work harder. She is doing a slower version of a mountain-climber; the considered speed makes the exercise more challenging on the abs.
BOX AWAY THE POUNDS
Boxing burns around 700 calories in an hour (crikey!), and it's also a great way to build lean muscle in your arms and abs.
USE THE STAIRS
No gym membership? No problem. There are tons of exercises you can do on a flight of stairs. Time to channel your inner Rocky.
WEAR ANKLE WEIGHTS
By adding ankle weights, Iza is upping the intensity of this hamstring curl that targets the backs of the thighs.
TARGET YOUR LOWER ABS
Who knew you could use a foam roller to target your abs? If you don't have an incline bench you can re-create the same move on the floor in a plank.
